You Make the Call...

There was a report of an active shooter at a business in Las Vegas.

KLAS Reporter Darlene Melendez thought it might be a good idea to call up the business where the shooter is located:

So this poor boy is in a store where bullets are flying around. He's scared, doesn't know where his mom is and you are calling up the store and asking him questions?

Then you tweet it?

Needless to say, many saw the problem that Melendez did not seem to understand:

She then gave this as the reason for calling the business:

Let me ask you this? If the phone rings and it gets the attention of the shooter as the boy stops hiding and answers the phone. Then the shooter sees the boy on the phone and shoots the kid to stop him from talking.

How would you feel Darlene?

Gathering information is good, calling the scene of an active shooter is completely stupid.

Let's hope that your boss can explain to you why this is?
