But, You're Not the Weather Person
/Monique Williams is a Anchor/Reporter at WRDW in Augusta, GA.
So why is the News Anchor giving us the weather on social media?
Either Williams and the staff have been told to push weather (I blame a consultant) or the marketing department is posting to the talent's social media and pretending it's them.
If you are going to do that, why not make it more real then just the forecast?
Like this:
Just talked to WRDW Chief Meteorologist Kevin Coskren and he says we're looking at a mix of sun and clouds for today with a small chance for thunderstorms. What about Friday and the weekend? Tune into our newscast at 5 to find out.
Now, I'm know TV consultant, but that seems much more conversational and it hopefully gets a viewer to two to watch the newscast.
If you're going to play the social media game, use it as a promotional vehicle. Just giving the entire forecast and nothing else is not giving the viewer any reason to turn on the newscast or head to the station's website.
Send the viewers to the properties you own, not the ones owned by Mark Zuckerberg.
You know what? Maybe I should be a consultant.
Just saying....
