Longtime KGO Sports Anchor Mike Shumann was fired from the station after he was accused to stealing a jacket that belong to a Golden State Warriors employee.

Shumann was caught on surveillance video taking the jacket in April and was bounced by the station in May.

Now, in July he says in a long Facebook post that he did take the jacket but that it appeared to be forgotten after the team’s practice and that his intention was to return it to its rightful owner.

That seems like a logical reason, but at the time when he took the jacket and was suspended by the station, he released this statement:

“I regret any embarrassment I have caused the station. My recent actions do not reflect the high standard of conduct expected at KGO. Nor do they represent the integrity with which I have conducted my professional sports and broadcast careers.”

If you took the jacket only to find the rightful owner, why not say that at the time?

He is what he posted to social media:
