Scripps owned WKBW announced that they have hired Madison Carter, a former Reporter at the Charlottesville, Va., NBC affiliate WVIR.

The station announced the move Wednesday morning on Twitter, as did Carter — a graduate of Syracuse University's S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications.

In a phone interview with the Buffalo News, Carter said that she's been following Buffalo's television market for the past few months as her contract with WVIR neared its end.

"I was just excited to move up north, to be back closer to school, and I have a lot of really, really close family friends in the area," she said. "I'm a big cold-weather girl, so it all just really made sense."

She says that she was drawn to WKBW, because of their focus on "enterprise reporting."

"They really value the type of news that I've been working hard to do in terms of enterprising stories. It's something that I'm really big on," Carter said. "That's what I've basically made my name on in Charlottesville. I was the only enterprise reporter, so I'm happy to be at a shop that is big on that."

Ummmm.... just asking, but shouldn't every Reporter be an enterprise Reporter?
