While many stations across the country are adding news to their lineup ahead of the midterm elections, sources tell FTVLive that two LA stations will be cutting back on news.

According to sources, this Fall, KNBC will cut in half its hour long Noon newscast, to make way for a lifestyle pay to play show called "California Live," similar to "New York Live" which airs on sister station WNBC in New York.

Word is that Fox O&O KTTV will cancel its low rated 10AM hour of "Good Day L.A.," and run syndicated programs instead, despite hiring several new anchors for that show.

While insiders understand the KNBC move, since it will generate lots of money through sponsor based content, the KTTV move is puzzling since millions of dollars are pouring into the market with political advertising, and those campaigns like to advertise on newscasts, thinking that those viewers are likely voters.

But perhaps even political campaigns don't like to waste money on bad shows with no ratings.
