Longtime Mississippi Anchor is Dead

Former WLBT (Jackson, MS) Anchor/Reporter Stephanie Bell Flynt died  after a long battle with cancer.

Bell joined the WLBT news team in the mid 1990's, and quickly made a name for herself as a professional, no-nonsense on-air personality. She worked as the station's medical Reporter, and also anchored the Noon newscast.

In December 2015, Bell learned she had lung cancer. She successfully battled that illness with various treatments, but some of those treatments led to a leukemia diagnosis.

She was treated at MD Anderson Medical Center in Texas, and after 100 days, was well enough to come back home.

In January, Bell announced on Facebook that her leukemia had relapsed.

Bell is the recipient of numerous awards for her outstanding work in TV news, and she was inducted into the Mississippi Broadcasters Hall of Fame.
