WITI (Milwaukee) Anchor Ted Perry is going above and beyond to keep his viewers happy.

Nicole Perdue was worried when the person who was supposed to officiate at her wedding stopped returning her messages.

Then Perdue remembered that WITI Anchor Ted Perry say on the air a couple years ago that he was ordained and had done a wedding for a relative.

"I just reached out to him, and I was like this is very unorthodox but I was wondering if you'd be interested in performing a ceremony for us," she said. "Honestly, I didn't think he was going to respond to me, much less say yes."

But he did, and tomorrow the guy who delivers the news at 5 and 10 will anchor the 3:30 wedding of Nicole and her groom, Jason Kroeplin Jr.

"I watch him every night on the news, so I know how he is," Jason said. "If I had to pick someone from the media, Ted Perry is the one I'd want to do it."

This will be Perry's first time he's doing it for non-relatives, strangers, really, at least until they met over breakfast at Perkins in Glendale on a snowy April day. He liked the couple right away, and it didn't hurt that they are loyal Fox 6 viewers.

"To be honest with you, I don't know that I would make this a habit. But one thing I've always wanted to do is a same-sex wedding because I've been a supporter of equal rights for a long time," he said.
