When You're Right, You're Right

The Albany Times Union is calling out a local TV Reporter for being right on a story.

Huh?

It seems that WNYT Sports Director Rodger Wyland reported that Siena College had hired Jamion Christian as their new basketball coach.

Wyland reported the story, but college officials quickly notified other media outlets that no hire had been made.

But, the college did end up hiring Christian and Wyland says he got the story right. "I had the story," he said. "It didn't come out Thursday, but I reported that he was going to be the next head coach at Siena. That was accurate."

But the Times Union is crying foul, writing, "But for Wyland to report that Siena already had made a decision, and dragged its heels for nearly a week, was simply inaccurate."

The paper then goes on to say, "His report on the Siena and Christian marriage falls somewhere between premature and a lucky guess. We at the Times Union had information about the hiring process that couldn't be verified, so it was held. Our philosophy has been that it's more important to be right than to be first."

Looks like someone is a bit sore about being beat.

Just saying...
