The NBC O&O in Boston has gotten around to naming a replacement for Kenny Plotnik who was bounced from the station back in early April.

WVIT (Hartford) News Director Ben Dobson has been named the new news boss at NBC Boston. Dobson has New England roots and returns to Boston after working at NBC Connecticut as Managing Editor from 2011 to 2014, and Vice President of News for the past two years.

Prior to WVIT, Dobson worked in newsrooms all across New England including necn, WFXT Fox 25, and WHDH 7News.

“We’re pleased to welcome Ben back to Boston. He knows our market, understands our audiences and is respected by his colleagues,” said NBC Boston GM Mike St. Peter. “Ben has done an excellent job leading NBC Connecticut’s news team as the station established itself as Connecticut’s local weather authority and investigative powerhouse. I am excited for him to work with our news team to help us expand our culture of newsroom excellence.”
