Sharifa Jackson works at WXTX, the Raycom station in Columbus, GA.

She has been covering the story of a 4-year-old boy who fell into the Chattahoochee River on March 28 and the search for him.

Authorities said witnesses saw Beau Rabon and his 27-year-old father, James R. Rabon, fishing when the boy fell into the water. The dad, known as Ryan to friends and family, went in after his son. Search and rescue crews recovered James Rabon’s body on Sunday, news station WBRL reported.

But, it appears that Jackson has grown tired of covering the story and she was caught on a hot mic saying, “I am so over this,” Jackson said. “I don’t know. I don’t think they are going to find him.”

Social media has been lighting up after Jackson's comments were heard and posted online. The missing boy’s mother, also criticized her remarks.

“They will find my baby! Some Reporters are so vultures I’m realizing,” his mom, Allison Rabon, said on the post, according to the Ledger-Enquirer.

Following the outcry on social media, the Fox affiliate issued an apology for Jackson’s comments.

“We apologize that those comments were broadcast live,” the statement said. “They do not reflect the views of that reporter or our news team when it comes to our approach covering this tragic story.”

Wait! They may not reflect the views of the news team, but they most definitely reflect the views of the Reporter, she said it.

Jackson did not respond Wednesday to a request for comment.
