Raking in Money on the Murrow Awards
/Did you or your station win an RTDNA Edward R. Murrow award? Congrats you were one of almost 120 awards that were handed out.
It cost on average $150 to enter your story for an award. Let's say that 10 (the number is likely much higher) stations or people enter for an award in each category.
So 10X$150X120= $180,000 dollars.
Now, let's say you are nominated and watch to show up at the gala dinner and eat some rubber chicken. Tickets to the gala cost $375 a piece.
Now, lets say that 200 people showed up to that. $375X200=$75,000 bucks.
You also have sponsors for the awards. I have no clue what that cost, but lets say you have 4 sponsors at $5,000 each. 4X$5,000= $20,000
So if you add up $180,000+$75,000=$20,000 it equals, I need to get the hell into the TV award business.
And don't even get us started on the "regional awards".
Oh, and by the way, if you do win an award, you have to pay for it. No really you do.
Between the Emmys and the Murrow awards, this my friends is a great racket.
Look for the FTVLive awards coming soon.
(Note these numbers are just guesses and the real numbers are likely much higher)
