Giving the News and Spinning Some Tunes

Tegna's WXIA in Atlanta has launched a station on Pandora.

The station is calling it "11Alive Radio on Pandora" and it will feature a diverse set of music genres and artists specifically chosen by 11Alive’s Morning Rush anchors Shiba Russell, Chesley McNeil, Crash Clark and Francesca Amiker.

So, if you were thinking that a local news station might give you news on the radio, you are wrong. “11Alive is the market leader in providing digital news and entertainment. Taking the lead as the first broadcast television station to launch a Pandora radio station, we want to provide consumers with a fun and personal way to connect with their favorite news anchors,” said 11Alive’s Director of Marketing, Amanda White.

The station says that whether you need tunes for sitting in traffic, cooking, relaxing, or working out, 11Alive Radio will provide a variety of music for all tastes. A sampling of music you can expect to hear: “Lovely Day” by Bill Withers, ‘Everybody’ by Backstreet Boys, “Groove Me” by Guy, “Don’t Stop Believing” by Journey, and “Diamonds” by Rihanna.

It is hear that I would normally make some snarky comment but after reading this press release from the station, I'm like:
