It Only Took 31 Years

Proving that good things come to those that wait....

Tegna owned KENS in San Antonio named Deborah Knapp as the station's new 10PM Anchor.

Knapp celebrated her 30th anniversary with the station in 2017.

Knapp has been filling in on the anchor desk for the station’s signature late newscast since the departure of longtime anchor Sarah Lucero in November.

“We always knew Deborah was the right fit at 10 p.m.,” said KENS GM Tom Cury

So, if they "always knew" that she was the right fit, why did it take from November to now to name her the permanent anchor?

Could it have been that the station saved 6 months of a higher salary?

Just asking....

As for Knapp, “I’m thrilled to make the move permanent,” Knapp said. “I enjoy working with Jeff, Bill, Joe and our terrific reporters each night. After talking it over with my husband, we felt this was a great move for me and our family.”

It only took 31 years to make it happen.
