Station Shows Video of Man Being Killed by Cops

WXMI (Grand Rapids) did a story on a police stand off that ended with the police shooting and killing a man. The station showed video of the man being shot and killed and then slowed it down so you can watch the guy die in slow motion.

Really.. I didn't watch because I don't want to watch anyone die.. but why would any TV station think this is okay.. then put in slow mo?

There is no need to show him actually getting shot and going down. It adds nothing to the story except to support the old adage, "If it bleeds it leads." And from what I saw the police did their jobs.

Why are comments allowed on this story but not the others? The comments enable people to give different perspectives or point out errors. They make the blog stronger. That being said, I don’t think we needed to see a slow motion close-up of the man going down.

No. That’s a broadcasting line that should never have been crossed. I didn’t watch the video nor will I. Body bags, tarps and freezing video as shots are being fired is bad enough.
