WPXI Meteorologist Valerie Smock is leaving the station to.....say it with me.... be closer to her family. 

Smock says he is leaving the Cox owned station to head to the Scranton area and be closer to family.

Smock has not yet left the Pittsburgh station, but the station has already posted her job. 

WPXI News Director Suzanne Nadell said Smock's husband took a job in the Scranton area, so Smock notified WPXI that she would be leaving the station.

Smock joined WPXI in late 2013 , and is currently the meteorologist for their noon broadcasts.
