The Bottom Feeder in San Antonio

Sinclair owned WOAI had both the Super Bowl and the Olympics on its station in February and still finished dead last in the ratings.

The San Antonio Express-News writes about the bottom-feeding station, saying, viewers are still smarting from the firing early last year of the one major female presence on the station’s nightly newscast: Evy Ramos. It’s been more than a year since the well-liked anchorwoman’s exit, and the station still hasn’t made a move to install another woman permanently on the 10 p.m. broadcast.

FTVLive brought up that point back in January of 2017.

The station seems to be an all boys club that doesn't want women around. The paper writes, many were disappointed that the station didn’t promote the one woman who has been part of the newscast in recent months — meteorologist Jeannette Calle, who has been filling in on the main shows.

Instead, the station went out and hired Chris Suchan from KCTV in Kansas City to fill the main role.

The Express News asks,  will a female news anchor ever be added by the station to continue the long history of tandem teams at 10 p.m. — from Debora Daniels to Tanji Patton to Elsa Ramon to the aforementioned Ramos?

The omission has the effect of making the station seem stodgy and out of step with today’s emphasis on female empowerment, particularly in the wake of the #MeToo and Time’s Up movements.

It seems that the Sinclair station doesn't want women around and it remains in last place in the ratings.

Maybe it's time for Sinclair to step into the 21st century and give the ladies a chance.

You know, after they have cleaned up the kitchen and put their shoes back on.
