10 Year Old Interviews Dan Rather

Years ago, I was working at a CBS affiliate in Florida and was in Atlanta to cover the Democratic National Convention. 

While walking through the halls of the convention, we ran into Dan Rather, who was then the Anchor of CBS Evening News. We asked Rather to do a quick interview and he said no. 

We pleaded with him telling him it would take just a couple of minutes and we could do it while he was walking to wherever he had to go. 

Rather refused and would not talk to us, even though we were a CBS affiliate. 

Later in the day, we ran into ABC News Anchor Peter Jennings and so we decided to ask him if he would do an interview? 

Jennings said yes and could not have been more generous with his time and his help. Despite the fact that we were a CBS station and Jennings worked for ABC, he took the time and was very engaging in his interview. 

Ten-year-old Truman Hamade is a reporter for Scholastic News, a news outlet for kids. Back in November, he asked Dan Rather to do an interview and Rather said yes. 

After interviewing Rather, Truman has this to say about the former Anchor, "I just respect that he's so humble. He doesn’t use all those stories that he did, all those people he met, he doesn’t use it to brag. He uses it to strengthen his experience and not say, "I'm the best reporter out there."

That's B.S. Truman, the fact is Dan Rather is a dick.
