The Media Vultures...
/When the bullets started flying at a Florida high school, many kids relied on their phones.
Kids were texting their parents, each other and calling the police with information. Some were uploading pictures and video to social media.
While the shooter was still firing rounds and killing people, student Aidan Minoff was hiding in the corner of a classroom. He tweeted a picture of himself hiding under a desk.
While Minoff was taking cover, here are some of the replies he got to his tweet:
This is a kid, trapped in a classroom while the suspect is shooting his teachers and classmates and a station is asking for a phoner.
Are you F'ing kidding me?
Many look at the media as nothing more than vultures, in this case, it could not have been truer.
Some responded to the media and they were not happy:
Instead of trying to get Aidan on the phone, others tried to help him with information:
Look.... I get that it is the media's job to chase the story. But this kid is a kid, in the middle of an active shooting scene. Asking him to do a phoner is not acceptable and could have put him in more danger.
Chase the story, but maybe next time, use a little common sense while doing so.
Just saying...
