No News is Slow News

Many in this business know that this week around Christmas is often a bit slow in finding news.

It is a good bet that with today being Christmas Day, someone in your newsroom will be assigned to the story of, “Who’s working on Christmas?”

You will see the cops, the firefighters and the hospital workers.

Of course, you will get the obligatory shot of those working in the newsroom and the comment, “yes, even us at Channel X are working today.”

If you are assigned this story, you can look at the bright side. At least you weren’t assigned to cover the feeding of the homeless.

Why is that TV news cares about the homeless being fed and Thanksgiving and Christmas and doesn’t give a crap about them the rest of the year?

Just asking…
