It Was a Good Year for MSNBC

For years, the cable ratings had Fox News on top and CNN was second, while MSNBC sat in last.

But, now there has been a change.

Fox News still sits atop the ratings, but CNN has moved to the basement and MSNBC is now a solid 2nd across the board.

MSNBC Beats CNN across the board. Every hour of MSNBC weekday programming from 5am-3am beat CNN in total viewers.

MSNBC was also the fastest crowing cable news operation of the three.

In dayside, MSNBC’s average annual growth was +30%, more than doubling CNN (+12%) and quadrupling FOX News (+7%) in annual growth since 2014.

In prime, MSNBC’s average annual growth was +27% (vs. CNN’s +15% and FOX News’ +7%) and in total day, MSNBC’s average annual growth was +23% (vs. CNN’s +12% and FOX News’ +7%).

MSNBC’s annual growth since 2014 in A25-54 also beat out CNN and FOX News across all three key dayparts.

FNC is still the 800 pound beast, but 2018 was a very good year for MSNBC.

As for CNN?
