I Hate When This Happens...
/Consolidation.
That is a word that many TV new people hate to hear. While media groups look to pad their wallets, consolidation is their main tool to do it.
Viewers in Grand Forks are going to lose their local newscast as WDAZ will be consolidated with WDAY in Fargo.
WDAZ and WDAY both are owned by Forum Communications which is looking to merge the two stations in an effort to make more money.
What happens?
People lose their jobs and viewers get a water downed newscasts that tries to cover both markets.
No body wins in this, except for the company that did the consolidation.
This is where our business is headed.
