Former Palm Beach Anchor Dies in Motorcycle Crash

Former WPTV Anchor Rachele Scholes died of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident Friday night.

Scholes was riding on the back of a motorcycle being driven Andre Frazier when the driver of a Ford Taurus turned into the motorcycle’s path. The motorcycle struck the right front of the car.

Scholes and Frazier were taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach.

West Palm Beach Police described Frazier’s injuries as “serious” but “non-life-threatening.”

Scholes, however, was placed on life support and later died. She was 55.

“One of the saddest days of my life,” Frazier posted to Scholes’ Facebook page, where friends and relatives expressed their grief. “I lost my friend Rachele today. She was my best friend.

Scholes worked at WPTV from 1986 to 1999.

WPTV anchor Kelley Dunn wrote on Scholes’ Facebook page that: “Words cannot express the sadness and shock I, and so many of us at WPTV, feel after learning of the death of our dear friend and reporter, Rachele Scholes. She passed away today after being involved in a motorcycle crash Friday night in West Palm Beach.”
