Some sad news out of the Windy City…

Former WMAQ Anchor Warner Saunders has died after he collapsed Tuesday night in Chicago.

Saunders spent four decades in Chicago television and 29 years at WMAQ before retiring in May 2009.

"I think the first and most important thing is to say to the viewers is I’m just in awe that you have allowed me to come into your home for all of these years," Saunders said on the night he retired.

He was 83 years old.
