Today Show Boss is Leaving...
/Many people don't trust the media and to be honest, the media does not trust itself.
Proof in point.
NBC Today Show EP Don Nash is leaving NBC because he wants to spend, "more time with his children."
Many in the media are not buying that and think that Nash is part of the fallout from the Matt Lauer firing and era.
Nash has been at NBC since 1989 and has been the EP on the Today Show for the past 5+ years. He was also very close with Lauer.
While there is no official statement from NBC, many believe that Nash is being pushed out, because of his close ties to Lauer.
It is likely that we will never know the real reason Nash is leaving, which is a common theme in the media, whether it is local news or network.
TV news is great at shinning a light at others, but not so good when it comes to doing so on themselves.
Nash will be replaced by Libby Leist, which marks the the first time the 7 and 8AM hours had a female EP in charge.
"Libby brings tremendous talent and experience to this role, having served as senior producer of the 7am hour for the last 5 years," NBC boss Andy Lack said in a memo to the staff.
This all comes on the heels of for Today Show Anchor Ann Curry appearance on CBS, saying she was not surprised by Lauer's firing.
