The Firm Uses Employees as Actors

This is one of those stories where you just shake your head and wonder what the hell is happening?

At Fox's O&O, WFLD in Chicago, station GM Dennis Welsh did an editorial on the state's underfunded pension plans.

TV GMs doing editorials seems more about vanity than anything else, but that's a story for a different time.

The problem with this editorial is that the supposed taxpayers in the piece were employees of the station being used as actors.

What?!

The station did put a very small font up for a few seconds that said, “Illinois Taxpayer enactments performed by Fox 32 employees.”

Robert Feder says station sources said the editorial was produced outside of the news department and did not involve news personnel. “We’re not happy about it,” one insider said.

How can anyone be happy about it?

This is the kind of crap you expect from Sinclair, not a Fox O&O.

Just saying...
