While Florida braces for impact from Hurricane Irma, out on the left coast it's the heat.

Record breaking temps on the West Coast have been fueling fires and even took out a San Francisco Weatherman.

KGO Meteorologist Drew Tuma learned that even he couldn't withstand last weekend's heat wave, after he collapsed from heat exhaustion Saturday.

SFGate writes that Tuma posted a photo of himself sporting a gash on his forehead Monday, the wound clocking in at about seven to nine stitches.

"Mama Nature: She beat me," Tuma told the anchors at ABC 7 who quizzed him about the incident. "She got me, finally."

Tuma recounted in his social media post how he was "feeling a little lethargic" at home, from the high temperatures. In a bid to escape the heat of his San Francisco — and notably, air conditioner-less — apartment, he headed to work early to enjoy some of that sweet, cold office air.

While on Muni, Tuma wrote that he felt as if he was short of breath while on the warm train, and he made the decision to get out at the next stop for some fresh air.
"It was a little too late," Tuma wrote. "I step off the train onto the platform and next thing I know I see stars and blackout."

Noting that he "fell like a tree in the woods," Tuma reported that he woke up to find himself surrounded by strangers and was told that they had called an ambulance for him. A couple shared their water with him, someone else helped him stop the bleeding and a Muni employee waited with him while paramedics arrived, Tuma stated.

"My head unfortunately broke my fall," Tuma told his co-workers, laughing. "And it's gonna be fine. It's gonna take some time to heal."
