Houston Station Hires Second News Director

Tegna owned KHOU has hired a new News Director, but current ND Sally Ramirez isn't going anywhere.

As you know, the Tegna station was flooded out during Hurricane Harvey and while the bottom floor of the station is being gutted and redone, the news staff at KHOU has been working out of the PBS station.

While they are doing the newscast at the PBS station in Houston, it is being directed from WFAA in Dallas. The Tegna Dallas station is running KHOU's newscast from a separate control room, punching the show and putting in the graphics.

Tegna is referring to the Dallas operation as "KHOU North" and that is where they have hired former KMBC (Kansas City) News Director Sherrie Brown.

Brown is the ND of KHOU North, while Ramirez remains the ND of KHOU.

It is believed that Brown's job is temporary until the staff can move back into the flooded out studio.

Brown spent 9 years in KC, but has updated her resume with her new gig at Tegna. And it appears she is doing a little sucking up to the Tegna suits with her update:
