There have been lots of rumors flying around about who would end up ND at Tribune's (or soon to be, Sinclair) Denver station.

Brian Gregory will run the Fox affiliate. Right now, he's the ND at KWCH-TV in Wichita. What comes as absolutely no surprise is he worked for KDVR-TV GM Joan Barrett when she was in Kansas. Gregory is one of the 'good guys' in the business, so we're a little nervous he's decided to join Sinclair, er, Tribune.

If you're the type of person that likes memos; here's the one Barrett sent to the staff announcing Gregory's hire:

I wanted to let everyone know that we have hired Brian Gregory as our next News Director. Some of you may have met Brian on his visit a couple weeks ago.

Brian joins us from KWCH/KSCW/KDCU in Wichita, Kansas where he’s been News Director since April 2013.  He is very familiar with our duopoly model - as he operates a triopoly newsroom in Wichita, producing more than 60 hours of news each week in two languages.

During his tenure at KWCH, Brian led his team to two national and six regional Edward R. Murrows, as well as many other regional awards.

Prior to his time in Wichita, Brian held various positions at KOVR in Sacramento, California; WVLT in Knoxville, Tennessee; and WJET in Erie, Pennsylvania. He is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University with a BA in Communication.

I believe Brian is the right person at the right time to lead us to a new level of success.  I know you will make him feel welcome.  His first day will be Monday, October 9th.
