CNN vs. Donald Trump
/CNN has all but given up trying to cover the Trump administration fairly.
While Fox News bows down to the President, CNN criticizes his every move.
There is no doubt that Trump has had a number of major stumbles and needs to be called out. But, at this point Trump could cure cancer and CNN would have some sort of problem with it.
CNN's Jeff Zucker tells the NY Times, “My job is to remind everyone that they need to stay focused doing their job.”
We always thought Zucker's job was to find the missing plane.
As for Trump, Zucker says, “He’s trying to bully us, and we’re not going to let him intimidate us. You can’t lose your confidence and let that change the way you conduct yourselves.”
Conducting yourself?!
You mean like holding up severed heads of the President? Or doing stories that after getting caught, you retract?
Or maybe finding out the identity of a guy that created an internet meme involving CNN and then blackmailing the guy to say silent?
The thing you have to remember, is when Trump first started running for office, CNN was his biggest ally. They would show all his rallies while ignoring other candidates. Jeff Zucker would walk into Trump's office unannounced and sit down and talk. CNN media critic Brian Stelter gushed that Trump once looked at election results on his phone.
Zucker and CNN fawned over Trump every chanced they got. At one point in time, CNN leaned more for Donald Trump than Fox News did.
But, Trump and Zucker got in a spat and the President has used the power of his office to attack CNN as "fake news." Jeff Zucker has used the power of his network, to try and take Trump down.
It's a long away from when the two were buddies and CNN was all in when it came to Trump.
Many feel to this day that CNN had as much in getting Trump elected as the Russians did. CNN went all "missing plane" when it came to Trump's campaign and gave him millions of dollars of free advertising.
But, now Zucker says he and his staff are being attacked by the President and their safety is a big concern.
The Times writes that Zucker says the level of threats against CNN employees, he said, has spiked this year. Mr. Trump, he said, “has caused us to have to take steps that you wouldn’t think would be necessary because of the actions of the president of the United States.”
There is no doubt that the Trump/Zucker pissing match is personal and it's two very immature men acting like kids.
The best thing for CNN would be to part ways with Jeff Zucker and try and regroup under new leadership.
CNN has lost all credibility and respect and as much as they would like to blame Donald Trump for that, the truth is the blame lays with Jeff Zucker.
It's time for Jeff to get the Zuck out of CNN....
