WXYZ in Motown don't want viewers just sitting there watching the newscast. They want them to start answering polls.

So, you come home from work, throw your feet up and sit back to watch the news. But now, they want you to do some work.

The station says we care about you and your opinion. That’s why we’re excited to launch a new way for you to tell us exactly what you think!

We have a new polling system that gives you results in real time on the web and on TV at the same time! It’s actually already on your 7 Action News mobile app and on our website WXYZ.com.

You can now weigh in on the most talked about court cases like deportation hearings, the political debates dividing our community or the decisions surrounding Little Caesars arena, for example.

Remember it’s all in real time, so you can gauge the opinion of your neighbors and make sure that your opinion is known.

Here’s how it works: you’ll get a push alert (great, because I don't get enough of those) on your phone, click on the alert and it will take you to our mobile app.

You’ll see the poll question, cast your vote and then the results will appear both on the screen on your phone and at the bottom of your TV screen at the same time!”

So in other words, this will be similar to getting a telemarketing call just as you sit down to dinner.

I give this a couple of months before the station quits doing it.

Talk about annoying.
