The Met is on the Mend

Viewers have not seen WTNH's chief meteorolgist Gil Simmons on the air for the past few days and now we know why?

Simmons posted to Facebook that he has been out of work as he deals with a "serious medical issue."

He did not disclose the exact nature of the health matter but has been dealing with it since Wednesday.

Simmons is the second Connecticut meteorologist to suffer a health scare this year, following Bob Maxon's heart attack in March.

Over the past few days, well wishes for Simmons have poured into his Facebook page from thousands of his fans.

"So sorry to hear you've been in the hospital (I was going to say "under the weather" lol!)," wrote Susan Odell Walker. "Sending best wishes for a speedy and complete recovery. We miss you!"
