Philly ND Out After Less Than Two Years

FTVLive was the FIRST to tell you that KYW News Director  Margaret Cronan was leaving the station after less than two years on the job.

The staff was informed in a late afternoon meeting that Cronan would be leaving at the station next week.

Cronan didn't quite make it two years at the station. She was hired in September 2015.

Cronan replaced Susan Schiller, who lasted 14 years at the station.

Here is the internal email sent to the staff and obtained by FTVLive:

 Everyone..

I am writing to let you know our Vice President and News Director Margaret Cronan has decided to leave CBS 3 and the broadcast industry to begin a new start-up venture with her brother that will launch later this year.  Margaret is very excited about the opportunity to run her own business.  While we will miss her as a friend and colleague, I totally understand how great an opportunity like this can be.

Margaret rejoined CBS 3 two years ago at a critical time in our news product’s strategic redesign and has helped us move the needle in the right direction.  We are much more competitive today thanks to her hard work and leadership. Please join me in thanking her for her many contributions and wishing her the best in this exciting new life as an entrepreneur.  Since she is staying in Philadelphia, the good news is that I’m sure we will continue to see her around town.

Margaret’s last day with the station will be next Monday, July 17th.   Please join me in the newsroom for a special goodbye this Friday at  3 p.m. -- Brien
