Missing Weatherman's Body Found
/Yesterday we told you that WCSH (Portland, Maine) Meteorologist Tom Johnston was missing and police were searching for him.
Sadly, this story does not end well.
Johnston’s body was found in Auburn, Maine last night. He died of an apparent suicide, police said.
Johnston spent the weekend, emceeing an event and then never returned home. He was the main weather Anchor at WCHS, doing the 5:30 p.m., 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscasts each weekday.
In a brief statement late Thursday night, Deputy Police Chief Jason Moen said, “Any suspicion of foul play has been ruled out and the investigation is focused on an apparent suicide.” More information may be released once the medical examiner completes an autopsy Friday.
Sadly, suicide in this business is nothing new. Many people working in and around TV have ended up killing themselves. Many more have thought about it. This is a cruel business and it can get even the most positive person down. If you are having thoughts of suicide, reach out for help.
I can assure you, you're not the only one that is down and suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem.
Ask for help, you and your family and friends will be glad you did.
