WPEC (West Palm Beach) Reporter Jana Eschbach says she's quitting the station and this time it's for real.
Eschbach has spent 15 years covering the counties directly north of Palm Beach and now she's ready to hang up the mic.
Eschbach says she’s leaving the news to help out several non-profit medical clinics.
She tried quitting once before and going into the private sector. She says she hated it, but this time she's ready to make the move.
Eschbach took to Facebook to announce that she was leaving.
“It’s been an amazing ride. I’ve spent the better part of 15 years covering this community for CBS 12, and Its been the honor of my life to do so. But it’s time.
“After this month, I will start a new journey working to expand non-profit clinics.
“And in doing so, I’ll begin to tell my own story..I’ll be home for the holidays. I won’t stand in storms. I will be able to have dinner with my husband and step daughters. I will get a life. Maybe even a bigger boat.
“I’ve often filled my life with your stories, so much so, I start early and work late- with little time for myself and my family.
‘It’s been my dream since I was 8 years old to be a tv reporter.
“And I’ve done that and served you all the best I could. I fought for those in unfair situations, tried to uncover fraud and poor leadership, and rallied with the community when our waters run green. Someone, I hope, will pick up the torch.
“Thank you to my team of photographers through the years: Jeff Fleming ( Kathy Nadurska Fleming) Jason Probel, Frank Porter and last but not least Michael Denninger who will hopefully get a new Treasure Coast Reporter to work with.
“To those who I see or speak to daily- thank you for your guidance and support. I will miss you, and the laughs we had.
“I left before to try the private sector, and I hated it. So I came back. This time, I’m ready. And I say thank you to all of you for sharing your life stories with me for 15 years. I didn’t get points for being flashy- but I fought for this region every day.
