The Life of Brian

Brian Williams shows that there is still life after fake news.

Williams was benched by NBC after being caught in an embellishment scandal.

Many thought the Anchorman should have been fired and he kind of was. Williams sat out a long suspension and was brought back to NBC's ugly stepchild MSNBC as the "Breaking News Anchor" for the cable net.

But then MSNBC handed BriLie his own show on late night at MSNBC.

It was there that Williams brought his career back from the grave.

Forbes writes that in September 2016, NBC News announced Williams would anchor a new nightly newscast, The 11th Hour with Brian Williams. "We want a broadcast that will feel like a continuation of the conversation we've had all during this unprecedented campaign season," Williams said in a statement at the time.

Williams said the new show would run just "until Election Day," but Donald Trump's victory--and Williams' solid ratings--turned The 11th Hour into a fixture of the network's political coverage; the day begins with Morning Joe and ends with Brian Williams.

“Having the 11 has elevated the network and upped everyone’s game,” MSNBC president Phil Griffin told Vanity Fair earlier this year. “When Brian came back as a breaking news anchor, we talked for a long time about if he should really be contributing in a daily way. And then he did the primaries, and by day two of this show, we knew it was exactly what that hour should have.”

It is likely that Williams will never be fully trusted as a news Anchor again, but one thing is for sure, in cable news, you don't have to be.
