This is Someone That Gets It
/A few days ago, FTVLive showed you an "All about Me" video posted by KELO (Sioux City) Reporter Julie Dunmire.
After the story was posted on FTVLive, Dunmire emailed us. And instead of screaming at FTVLive and demanding that we pull down the video (which so many people do), Dunmire did something that not many people do.
She admitted that she screwed up and took the story on FTVLive as a lesson for the future.
Here is the email she sent to us:
Dear Mr. Jones,
My name is Julie Dunmire. I am a reporter at KELO-TV in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. You recently made a post about me on FTV Live.
It ruined my day. I teared up, thinking “how stupid could I be” to post something so silly.
I know I shouldn’t care and should have a thicker skin, but that’s easier said than done. I really care about what I do. Opinions of those in the industry are of utmost importance to me.
I work really hard every day to prove to people that it’s not “all about me,” and was angry with myself for allowing any content I create to make that dedication questionable.
I can tell you care very much about this business.
I appreciate that. This is my personal email, if you ever want to reach out to me directly. I welcome any feedback.
A little humiliation goes a long way. A conversation may go even further.
Thank you for the important lesson.
Happy Holidays!
Best,
Julie
Look we all do silly and dumb things and the idea that this Reporter could admit to it shows me that she might just have what it takes to make in this business.
It is refreshing to see someone step up, admit to doing something dumb and not blame the messenger.
Keep the name Julie Dunmire on file....I have a feeling this kid is going somewhere.
Oh..... and Julie we're sorry we ruined your day.
