Another Mistake from CNN
/CNN runs a promo about #FactsFirst.
But, when it comes to practicing that, the one time cable news network seems to have a problem.
On Friday, CNN dropped a bombshell of a story.
The Jeff Zucker run network reported that then candidate Donald Trump, his son Donald Trump, Jr. and other Trump campaign figures received an email on Sept. 4, 2016, offering a website and decryption key for the hacked WikiLeaks documents about the Democrats email. This was days before the story was first published on WikiLeaks.
The problem?
The date of the email sent was Sept. 14, which was AFTER the story appeared online.
CNN's major "exclusive" story ended up being a nothing burger.
After the Washington Post reported the correct date, CNN issued a correction. But, by then what was left of their dwindling credibility was all but shot.
CNN Reliable Sources tweeted out this comment from their guest in regards to their mistake, it was retweeted by the show's host Brian Stelter:
So see.... CNN making mistakes is the reason you should trust CNN.
Wait....what?
Stelter spent much of his show trying to cover for CNN glaring mistake.
Thanks to a President that attacks the media on almost a daily basis, the spotlight on the press is as bright as it has ever been. The media can't afford to make mistakes and CNN, which makes a number of them, really needs to be aware of that.
It might be time for CNN to step back, let the NY Times and the Washington Post do the real reporting on the President and then just report what they report.
CNN has become so fixated on trying to "get" the President, that they have lost all semblance of objectivity.
It seems now that CNN is looked more as a punchline for a joke than it is for its news coverage.
Quoting President Trump..... SAD.
