Megyn Kelly: "I Heard Rumors"
/Let's be honest, in Megyn Kelly's world, if she can't somehow involve herself in the story, it's just not that interesting to her.
It seems that no matter what the sexual harassment story is, somehow, someway Megyn Kelly is able to involve herself.
Kelly's morning show on NBC was tanking in the ratings. But then, she did a couple shows on sexual harassment and her show has seen an uptick in the ratings. So, it seems that Kelly is ready to ride that ratings horse until it drops dead.
Almost every show for weeks has focused on sexual harassment and Kelly has been able to inject herself into every story.
Roger Ailes? Kelly was there.
Charlie Rose? Kelly had her story about him at a book signing event.
Bill O'Reilly? Kelly said she wrote a letter to Fox News executives after he made a comment on air.
And now Matt Lauer? Kelly said she had heard rumors about Lauer.
"I had heard rumors about Matt, but that's all they were," Kelly said. "And my feeling on it was that rumors are not the same as reportable fact. And I hear a lot of rumors about myself that aren't true."
"I had no inside knowledge at all, but I knew people were sniffing around the issue and hoped it wasn't true," she told Business Insider's US editor-in-chief, Alyson Shontell.
Kelly seems to be able to inject herself into any of the sexual harassment stories that come down.
But, the question that should be asked, is why is Megyn Kelly always involved after the allegations?
Gretchen Carlson was the first to step up and face off with Roger Ailes and only then did Kelly get involved.
Bill O'Reilly was paying off women like his Target credit card and Kelly remained silent until after he was fired from Fox News.
She said nothing about her run-in with Charlie Rose until after he was sacked.
And if she heard rumors about Matt Lauer, why did she at least approach the NBC executives and tell them what she heard?
Kelly is very good at asserting herself after the story, but why not take a stand and step up before and maybe help save women from being sexually harassed or assaulted?
Megyn Kelly talks a good game, but her actions show that she stays silent until all the heavy lifting is done.
By the way, with Matt Lauer's firing, Megyn Kelly is now the highest paid anchor at NBC News.
Chew on that for a bit.
