What GM Is Calling It Quits?

After 25 years in the corner office, a Hubbard Broadcasting GM is calling it quits.

KOB-TV GM Mike Burgess will retire from the company at the end of the year. Most of the time, GM's have a pretty low-key existence, but you may remember hearing Burgess' name quite a bit when longtime anchor (now retired) Tom Joles seemed to want to try his skills in the Octagon. Burgess tried to downplay our story.

In a rare move, the company has already named Burgess' replacement and they're coming from the news department. Michele Donaldson is getting the big chair and will become the VP/GM, succeeding Burgess.

We always like to see news people getting promoted to the GM's office. It gives us hope that they'll actually fight for the newsroom. Err, we probably shouldn't use the word, 'fight' when talking about KOB.

Congrats Mike and Michele.
