NPR Chief is On Leave After Allegations

The VP of News for NPR has been placed on leave after two women have accused him of inappropriate conduct back in the 90's.

The women say that NPR's Michael Oreskes "abruptly kissed them while they were speaking with him about working at the newspaper."

The incidents allegedly occurred while Oreskes, a veteran, well-known journalist, was working as Washington bureau chief for The New York Times.

The Hollywood Reporter writes that NPR has placed Oreskes on leave while the allegations are invested, and released the following statement: "We take these kinds of allegations very seriously. If a concern is raised, we review the matter promptly and take appropriate steps as warranted to assure a safe, comfortable and productive work environment. As a matter of policy, we do not comment about personnel matters."

Oreskes joined NPR in 2015, after serving as an executive for the Associated Press.
