KCOY (Santa Maria) Anchor/Reporter Melissa Mahan has decided to step away from the broadcasting business to....say it with me..... to spend more time with her family.

The station says that Mahan made the decision to end her role as Anchor/Reporter for the evening broadcasts of KCOY 12 Central Coast Local News and Fox 11 News at 10:00.

Before joining the news team here, Mahan worked as a reporter and anchor at stations in Boston, Albuquerque, Providence, and Monroe, Louisiana. She graduated from UC Santa Barbara.

“After more than a dozen years in the news business, it was an honor to finally come home to the Central Coast and work for KCOY and KKFX. It has been a blessing to serve the wonderful people in this community, and I will certainly miss my talented news team as I start my next chapter. Thank you for the opportunity to come into your homes every night with the stories that impact your families and your lives,” Mahan said.

“Our team has been greatly enriched by Melissa’s presence in the newsroom, out reporting important stories, and being a part of our mission to provide the best possible news coverage for the Central Coast,” said News Director Jim Lemon.  “We’ll really miss her, and hopefully we’ll be able to partner with Melissa on other projects in the future.”
