Out the Door in the Twin Cities

You could call it a Friday night news dump.

KARE in Minneapolis announced late on Friday that longtime morning Anchor Kim Insley is no longer with the station.

At 8:30 on Friday night, Insley tweeted out this message:

Insley has anchored the morning show at KARE for 24 years.

She later posted this video to Facebook, saying what her plans are now. “I want to be a problem solver, to work on things I’m passionate about, things like education and science and civic engagement,” she said in the video.

There was no retirement announcement and no long goodbye, just a quick tweet on a Friday night saying she was gone.

KARE said this in a statement: “Kim has been a leader in the newsroom and we are appreciative and grateful for her many contributions. We have been working with Kim to make sure this transition is as seamless as possible. This is in no way a reflection of Kim’s many talents. She will be missed at KARE 11 and we wish her the best.”

But when a station drops a 24 year Anchor just days before the November book starts, people are going to be asking questions.

Here is what Insley posted to Facebook:
