I Think She Knew Someone

Celina Pompeani has been hired at KDKA in Pittsburgh and will start doing traffic reports for the station.

They say to land a job in TV news, it's all about who you know.

Well, Celina knew someone at KDKA and that helped her get a leg up.

Celina's dad is Bob Pompeani, The station's main Sports Anchor since 1982.

“Ever since I was little, it was always my dream to work at KDKA with my dad,” she says. “I am honored to be a part of the fabulous morning crew.”

She says she has no desire to be a sports reporter like her dad. So his job is safe.

“I love sports and grew up around sports because of my dad, but to do the analysis he does would take a lot more work because he knows so much about so many sports,” says Celina Pompeani.

Bob Pompeani is proud of his daughter's success through with the Penguins and with her desire to venture into a new challenge as a traffic reporter.

“She has always been willing to work hard — she probably takes after her mother,” he jokes. “No, I have always told my children that hard work is so important, it is more important than talent. (KDKA) came after her, and she has always wanted to do TV. She's told me since she was a little girl that she wanted to work on the same station as me. She will have to wake up early, but she is a coffee drinker like me, so we plan on buying stock in coffee. I am excited to watch her.”
