You're Gonna Do What?
/FTVLive has been bringing you the see-saw of firings between Sinclair and TEGNA. On Friday, Sinclair swung the axe in Baltimore and San Antonio. We told you the story of WOAI-TV firing popular anchor, Evy Ramos out of left field.
In an interview with MySA.com, GM John Seabers (one of FTVLive's Worst People In TV for 2016) was asked if remaining anchor Delaine Mathieu was going to take over Ramos' 6p and 6:30p duties? Here's what he said: "If she'll agree to do them. I haven't asked her". SAY WHAT?
Since when did Sinclair, and especially Seabers, get all democratic? Everything we hear from our sources, says he's a candidate for the KGB. And the last time we were in a newsroom, it wasn't a democracy; you either did what was asked, or you were fired.
He did say viewers would probably be seeing a lot more of Beamer (oh, wait, we have to say Randy Beamer). We did a little math and we're pretty sure Beamer has been at the station about 30 years. On Facebook, he has about 13,000 'likes'. He's had multiple co-anchors over the years and we believe they're still in last place.
Ramos has been in the market for 3 years. Her Facebook page has a little more than 9,000 'likes'. Her farewell alone, in 72-hours, has 600 comments and over 1,000 'likes'. Now we're no Albert Einstein, but we're wondering if Sinclair booted the wrong person?
In the meantime, maybe if Seabers asks Mathieu, "Pretty please"?
