Getting Out of the Business

A longtime West Palm Beach Reporter is putting TV news in the rearview.

WPEC Reporter Kathleen Walter is leaving the beleaguered Sinclair station for a new gig outside the business.

Gossip Extra reports that Walter is going to be the new mouthpiece for the city of West Palm Beach.

Regular hours, holidays off, more money.

Walter accepted the job last week after the city received more than 100 applications, including many from Reporters looking to get out of TV news.

Walter becomes the de facto face of city government and is expected to get plenty of air time during emergencies like hurricanes or when controversies hit city government. She’s also in charge of wpb.org.

Gossip Extra says a committee of government employees picked Walter.
