Yesterday, FTVLive FIRST told you that the ABC O&O's are in a hiring freeze as the down year of 2017 is approaching fast.

Well, now sources are telling FTVLIve that Scripps is slowly going into a freeze as well. Scripps has told management in a number of cities (i.e. Detroit) to not fill any open positions without having it approved first.

As FTVLive has been telling you for months, 2017 is a year with no Olympics and no election, which is causing stations to start pulling back on the purse strings.

But, this is not going to be 2008/2009 all over again. Automotive sales are still strong and the economy is in much better shape overall. So, while there will be freezes and layoffs in the next year, don't expect the blood letting you saw 8 years ago.

But, if you have a job, it might be best to settle in and plan on staying for awhile.
