Facebook Post Gets Texas Anchor Sacked
/KRIV Anchor Scarlett Fakhar let viewers know on her Facebook page that she was fired from the Houston Fox O&O.
It is the same Facebook page that got her on the unemployment line.
The Houston Chronicle writes that Fakhar's departure follows a controversial post she made on her personal Facebook page, extolling U.S. President-elect Donald Trump and chastising President Barack Obama. The post also said, "I hate to say it.. but the number of African Americans killing one another far outweights the number of them being killed by whites."
The Chronicle adds, following a scathing critique from Scott Jones on FTVLive.com and other reports, Fakhar apologized for her statements.
"I profusely apologize for making public my personal views on the outcome of the election and other issues. It was wholly inappropriate, as a journalist, to do that. Again, my sincere apologies."
Fakhar also took to social media to try and save her fan page, which the station will be taking down.
FTVLive has received a number of emails from Fakhar's fans saying that we got the Anchor fired.
No WE did not get Fakhar fired, she did. FTVLive has been telling Journalists since before the election to keep quiet about who they are supporting and stay objective.
Fakhar and many others, including this Producer at WJLA, decided to let their feelings be known, which instantly ruins their credibility and as you can see, also can hurt your income.
