While TV stations have gotten fat in 2016, 2017 will be a lean year. Between the Elections and the Olympics, 2016 was a year for your station to rake in the big bucks and for your corporate owners to pad their pockets.

Well, 2017 is going to be all about cuts, layoffs buyouts and freezes.

FTVLive was the FIRST to tell you that Tribune was making cuts at their stations. Once Nexstar takes over the Media General stations, you can expect cuts to happen there.

Sources tell FTVLive that Quincy Media group is already under a hiring freeze and we hear that the ABC O&O's have been told to stop hiring.

Word is that ABC has told their O&O's that all hiring now needs to be approved and not all open positions are going to be filled.

I can assure you folks, this is just the start of what is going to be a down year for TV news.
