Tegna to Launch New Strategy Today in Sacramento

FTVLIve FIRST told you back in September that former WSVN News Director Joel Cheatwood was spotted working with some Tegna stations on a new plan for the way the stations do news.

Cheatwood is one of the founders of Red Seat Ventures. Red Seat Ventures is a consulting company that puts heavy emphasis on digital and digital first content.

The former news boss was spotted at Tegna owned KXTV in Sacramento and then a week later at Tegna's WTSP in Tampa.

This week, the Cheatwood/Tegna era starts in Sacramento.

KXTV will debut "a different" morning show called "Morning Blend". The late newscast will be called "Late News Tonight."

Cheatwood's thoughts on the late newscast, is people already know what happened, so tell them why it happened. It was also have heavy emphasis on spot news....a Joel Cheatwood staple.

The newsroom as a whole will put much stronger emphasis on digital.

This is all be done first at Tegna's lower rated stations and is expected to be rolled out at all their stations eventually.

Stay tuned....
