Subject: Larry Wert Appointed as President, Local Broadcasting

I'm extremely pleased to let you know today we are announcing the appointment of Larry Wert as President of Local Broadcasting.  Larry will report to me and oversee our 23 television stations and WGN Radio in Chicago.  He will assume his new duties in the near future.  The press release on Larry’s appointment is attached.

Larry has more than 30 years of broadcasting experience, and since 2008 he has served as President, Central & Western Region, NBC Local Media, overseeing five NBC-owned stations: KNBC-TV in Los Angeles, KNTV-TV in San Francisco, KNSD-TV in San Diego, KXAS-TV in Dallas and WMAQ-TV in Chicago.  He joined NBC in 1998 as Vice President/General Manager of WMAQ-TV.

Larry is a skilled leader who knows local television and radio from top to bottom, and understands the importance of our local news operations to the communities we serve.  He will be a great addition to the company.

Nils Larsen, who has overseen our broadcasting division since the summer of 2011 will assist Larry in the transition to his new role.

Please join me in welcoming Larry to the company.

Peter

Just over a week ago, after 12 years as a subscription site FTVLive.com relaunch as a free site once again.

That opened the site and myself up to a large group of people that never heard of me or the website. A number of those new people have emailed me asking questions about the website and myself.

I have tried to email those people back, the emails having been piling up and it is getting harder and harder to do. So I will answer them here in a new segment called "What's Up with You Dude?"

CBS Reporters Stop Tweeting During Manhunt

During the manhunt for Christopher Dorner, the San Bernadino Sheriff's office asked the media to stop tweeting. Their fear was that Chris Dorner was monitoring Twitter.

An internal memo sent out to CBS showed that CBS was going continue to tweet, but give no locations. A second memo was then sent out saying CBS was ceasing all tweets in regard to the manhunt.
